Little Steps Make Big Communities

A few weeks ago, we got a call at the shop from a man looking for a pair of trail running shoes. The conversations started out, “You can probably tell I’m not from around here…” In a fairly thick British accent, James, asked for the Altra Lone Peak 2.0 in black. The cushioned trail shoe has been gaining traction since its debut last season. We’ve even had several folks pick up a few pairs for distances as long as 200 miles!!

James said he really wanted the shoes, but had no way of getting to the shop because he was without a car and staying in a hotel in Bellevue. No problem, we’ll deliver. We dropped the shoes off with the concierge a bid adieu.

This week we received an email from James,

“I thought you might like some feedback and a quick update on the Lone Peak 2.0. In short, they’re awesome! Initially I was worried that I’d gone too big on the size, but when you start running in them it’s great. They do exactly what they say and let your feet spread out giving you a natural sense of balance. I am getting a little pain around the ankle, but I think that’s just my feet getting used to it.

I’ve attached a couple of photos of my run this morning in the hills around where I live in the UK. The small hill in the foreground of the first image is actually a Viking burial mound called a barrow. Dates back over 2000 years!

Thanks, James”

We absolutely love this, and this is exactly why we’re so thrilled to be involved with the running community, not just in Issaquah, but everywhere. Running has no borders and it’s full of creative and kind people. Seriously, this guy took time out of his day to write us a quick update and share some sweet photographs he took during one of his runs. Little steps make big communities. Whether you’re visiting a new place or just going for a run on your home trails: share it. Share it with people you know and people you’ve just met. Letting running be the icebreaker. Fill in the gaps with your stories, your laughs, and run easy knowing you’ve made a friend. Thanks, James.
